  • The Project Engineer Pipelines is a key member of the construction engineering team, which is responsible for delivering the offshore pipeline systems in accordance with BP’s Q&HSE expectations

  • As a member of the Global Execution Team the Project Engineer, Pipelines will have the following responsibilities:


The Engineer will support the Pipelines Team in the delivery of:

  • Implementing safe and efficient execution of project scopes
  • Awareness and promotion of project goals in respect of HSE, cost, schedule & technical integrity
  • Direction, motivation, support and leadership to project team members and
  • Awareness and promotion of BP GPO expectations of Safe Design and Quality Build and conformance to the GPO Operating Management System (OMS) requirements including risk management, continuous improvement and management of
  • Promoting an effective and collaborative working environment with a ‘One Team’
  • Ensuring lessons learned are captured, shared and tracked to implementation
  • Exemplary leadership to contractors and vendors to facilitate successful scope delivery,


  Construction Engineering

The Engineer will be accountable to the Offshore Execution Engineering Team Leader to:

  • Managing the installation engineering and procedure development to assure timely delivery of approved procedures for mobilisation and execution of the works
  • Support in the HIRA/HAZID process and delivery of appropriate risk mitigations through the development of appropriate installation methods
  • Support in the reactivation of the pipelay barge including setting up of welding equipment, testing of field joint coating, DEH spread, tensioners, A&R winch and other key barge operational equipment
  • Readiness planning & co-ordination of operational assurance prior to campaign execution
  • Managing key interfaces with the Engineering Team
  • Managing key interfaces with Contractor, Vendors and Suppliers
  • Maintaining close contact with the Engineering Team to ensure timely approval of engineering queries, deviations and approval of contractor documents,
  • Supporting the offshore installation and testing of the offshore pipeline installation
  • Supporting the pre-commissioning and survey scopes for the offshore pipelines
  • Managing the integrity of the offshore pipeline during construction activities
  • Supporting the management and tracking of the execution costs including the assessment of contractor variations, invoices and deliverables
  • Support delivery of the pipelines team project management processes including cost, schedule, risk and MoC

    As a member of the Pipelines PMT the project engineer will be required to support general areas of delivery including:

    • Providing support to the management of safety within the Pipelines Team including the Contractor Self Verification and BP Oversight process through verification of action quality, tracking actions to closure and ensuring lessons are shared within the wider Marine &Subsea Team
    • Supporting other team members to deliver their areas of responsibility
    • Support to general management of the installation contractor, sub-contractors and vendors
    • Undertaking specific short-term assignments offshore on the installation vessels to support installation management


  • An engineering degree and professional status accreditation with a recognised institution
  • Direct experience of anchored pipelay barge operations and preferably knowledge of firing line production welding and field joint coating techniques
  • Experience of contractor management
  • Experience of project management processes
  • Valid OPITO BOSIET and offshore medical
  • Valid IMO STCW basic safety training certificate:
  • Personal Survival Techniques (STCW Code – Table A-VI/1-1);
  • Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (STCW Code – Table A-VI/1-2);
  • Elementary First Aid (STCW Code – Table A-VI/1-3);
  • Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (STCW Code – Table AVI/1-4).
